Usage Information
    Diagnostic ChartGill and Skin Flukes:Very common fish parasites. Can be found on the gills, scales or skin. Not visible without the aid of magnification. Symptoms may include: darkening of skin, clamped fins, excess mucous. Fish may also swim erratically or become emaciated.Hole-in-the-Head Disease:Symptoms include pitting and erosion of skin and muscle tissue around the face and side of body. Many infected fish exhibit poor appetite, weight loss and nervousness.Wasting Disease:Fish parasites transmitted fromn fish to fish cause emaciation, anemia and lethargy.Tissue damage leading to subsequent ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract. Excess mucus and white stringy feces are often produced as a result of parasitic invasion.Swollen Abdomen:Fish infected with tapeworms (cestodes), often have an extended or swollen abdomen. Internal area of attachment results in damaged tissue. Fish normally show signs of reduction ingrowth and general malaise.Treatment TipsQuarantine aquarium. Remove any dead fish immediately. Do not remove or add any live fish to the infected aquarium. Parasitic infections are highly contagious and can spread to other aquariums by nets, algae scrapers and wet hands.To speed up the life cycle of parasites and shorten treatment period, raise water temperature to 82 F (28 C).To aid osmoreregulation and ease stress of infected fish, add 1 tablespoon of API AQUARIUM SALT for each 5 gallons (19 L) of aquarium water, or 1 -1/4 cup for each 100 gallons (378 L).This medication may be used in combination with API antibacterial medications, including API MELAFIX, to help prevent scondary bacterial infection.

Otc - Active Ingredient



Active Ingredients: 500 mg Metronidazole and 150 mg Praziquantel per teaspoon.


Dosage & Administration



Directions for Use:

For best results, remove activated carbon or filter cartridge from filter and continue aeration.

For each 20 gallons (75 L) of water add 1 scoop (1 tsp.).

For larger systems, for each 240 gallons (908 L) of water add 12 scoops (4 Tbsp.). or for each 960 gallons (3,634 L) of water add one cup.

Repeat dose after 48 hours.

Wait another 48 hours then change 25% of the aquarium water and add API BIO CHEM ZORB, fresh activated carbon or replace filter cartridge.

Will not discolor water.
