Chlorhexidine Gluconate Oral Rinse USP is prescribed by the dentist to help reduce the swelling and redness of gums and control any gum bleeding. It should be used along with regular brushing and should not be swallowed. Allergic symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing or upset stomach should be immediately reported. Chlorhexidine gluconate may cause tooth discoloration or tartar formation, but stain and tartar can be removed by a dentist. To minimize discoloration, daily brushing and flossing is advised. The rinse may taste bitter but is less noticeable with continued use. Avoid rinsing with water immediately after using. This rinse contains 0.12% chlorhexidine gluconate in a base containing alcohol, various flavors, and purified water. Store at room temperature and keep away from children.*
