Acetohydroxamic Acid Struct (Acetohydroxamic Acid Struct)
Acetohydroxamic acid is a drug used to treat a rare genetic disorder called hereditary xanthinuria, which causes high levels of xanthine in the urine. It works by inhibiting the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which converts xanthine to uric acid. This reduces the amount of uric acid and xanthine in the urine and prevents the formation of kidney stones. Acetohydroxamic acid may also be used to treat urinary tract infections caused by certain bacteria.*
