This is a description of HESPAN®, a solution for intravenous use, containing Hetastarch (6%) and Sodium Chloride USP (0.9%) in a 500 mL EXCEL® container. The solution is sterile, and each 100 mL contains electrolytes such as Sodium (154 mEq/L) and Chloride (154 mEq/L). It is recommended to store the container at room temperature and 25°C (77°F), protect from freezing, and discard any unused solution. The package insert provides complete information about the usual dosage guidelines. There are instructions to withdraw all air and not introduce additives other than Citrate. If leakage is found or the natural rubber latex, PYC or DEH are used, discard the solution immediately to prevent contamination risk.*
