Physiolyte is a physiological irrigating solution used for various medical procedures. The pH of the solution is adjusted to 6.8 and it has an osmolarity of 295 mOsmol/L. Its electrolyte content is as follows: 140 mEq/L sodium, 5 mEq/L potassium, 3 mEq/L magnesium, 98 mEq/L acetate, and 27 mEq/L gluconate. Each container has a volume of 100 mL and contains sterile, nonpyrogenic single units. The solution should not be warmed above 150°F (66°C) and should be stored at room temperature (25°C) to avoid excessive heat and freezing. Physialyte and PIC are trademarks of B. Braun Medical Inc.
