Docosanol 10% (Docosanol 10 Percent Cream Ene 1)
This is a description of Docosanol Cream, a non-prescription medicine used to treat cold sores or fever blisters caused by the herpes simplex virus. These sores can be easily passed on through close contact, and are commonly experienced by an estimated 1 out of 5 Americans each year. Docosanol Cream helps to reduce the healing time of cold sores and alleviate symptoms such as tingling, pain, itching and burning. It should be applied directly to the cold sore at the earliest sign of a tingle, redness, bump or itch, and can be used up to five times a day until the sore is healed. The cream contains 10% Docosanol which is a key ingredient in shortening the duration of cold sores. Adults and children over 12 years of age can use Docosanol Cream. Cosmetics can be applied over it, but a separate applicator should be used to avoid spreading the infection.*
