Topex® is a topical anesthetic spray containing 20% Benzocaine, effective for use on the oral mucosa. The formulation strength has 180-220 mg of Benzocaine per gram of the product, and each metered spray delivers approximately 6.8mg of Benzocaine. The spray is contraindicated for patients with known sensitivity to Benzocaine or PABA, and use in children under 2 years of age is not recommended. The product contains Heptafluoropropane, Denatured Ethyl Alcohol, Polyethylene Glycol 400, Sodium Saccharin, and Artificial Cherry Flavor as main ingredients. The product may cause methemoglobinemia - a rare condition that needs emergency treatment, as it reduces oxygen levels in the blood. If symptoms like pale or blue colored skin, headache, rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigue, or lack of energy occur, medical attention should be sought immediately. The product should be kept away from children and stored at a temperature between 59°-86°F (15°-30°C). In case of overdose, Poison Control Center or medical help should be contacted immediately.*
