This is a description for Nitroglycerin Ointment, USP. It is for intra-anal use only and comes with a dosage guide included on the carton. Each 375 mg dose (1 inch) contains 1.5 mg of nitroglycerin. The usual dose is to apply 1 inch approximately every 12 hours for up to three weeks, as directed by a physician. The active ingredient is nitroglycerin, and the inactive ingredients include propylene glycol, lanolin, sorbitan sesquioleate, paraffin wax, and white petrolatum. The ointment should be stored at 20°C to 25°C (65°F to 77°F), with excursions permitted up to 30°C (86°F). Keep the tube tightly closed.*
