Metronidazole is a prescription topical cream with an NDC code of 0713-0633-37. It is only for topical use and should not be used for ophthalmic purposes. Each gram of the cream contains 0.75% (7.5 mg) metronidazole as the active ingredient. Inactive ingredients include emulsifying wax, sorbitol solution, glycerin, isopropyl palmitate, benzyl alcohol, lactic acid, and/or sodium hydroxide to adjust the pH, and purified water. It comes in a tube and is intended for application to the entire affected area of the skin twice a day or as directed by a healthcare provider. It should be applied thinly to affected areas in the morning and evening or as directed by a physician, while avoiding the eyes. Each gram of the cream contains 0.75% metronidazole and other inactive ingredients. The cream should be stored between 20° and 26°C (68° to 77°F) and protected from freezing.
