Drugfacts1
This is a drug information sheet containing details about a lozenge that is taken orally. The lozenge contains Benzocaine and Menthol that act as an anesthetic to temporarily relieve symptoms such as mouth or throat irritation, soreness, and pain. The drug has a warning of the possibility of Methemoglobinemia, a serious condition that must be treated promptly as it reduces oxygen in the blood. The drug must not be used if the person has a history of allergies to local anesthetics or in children under 2 years old. The instructions are to dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth and may be repeated every two hours if necessary or as advised by a doctor. If the symptoms do not improve within 7 days or persist or worsen, seek medical attention.*
