This is a description of Code 4R1590P, a package containing nine units of Anticoagulant Citrate Phosphate Dextrose Solution, USP (CPD) Blood-Pack Unit; with ADSOL Red Cell Preserv, which is used for the collection and processing of 500 mL blood samples. The package includes a Quadruple unit with a Sample Diversion System and Integral Cell Leukocyte Reduction Filter. Each unit features a PL 146 plastic primary container with 70mL of GPD solution and a PL 2209 Plastic Satellite container with 110 mL of ADSOL Red Cell Preservation Solution, and two empty 400 mL PL 2209 Plastic Transfer pack Containers along with one Integral SEPACELL FLEX-EXCEL Red Cell Leukocyte Reduction Filter and one empty 450ml PL 2208 Plastic Transfer Pack Container for the storage of AS-1 Red Blood Cells, Leukocytes Reduced. The solution is sterile, non-pyrogenic.
The instructions recommend storing at controlled room temperature, and unused units in open foil pouch may be kept for up to 60 days by folding and securing the open end of the foil pouch to prevent the possible loss of moisture. However, direct handling of product surfaces prior to extended storage in the foil pouch may result in mold growth. The breakaway cannula and check valve must be aligned properly, and the post-filtration red cell container kept horizontal. A filter is then placed on top of the folded container, enclosing the breakaway cannula and check valve, and all tubing is gathered and placed on top of the filter.*
