This is a drug information sheet for Tabtussin, which is used for cough suppression and as an expectorant. The active ingredients in each tablet are Guaifenesin 400mg and Dextromethorphan HBr 20mg. The drug is used for temporary relief of cough due to throat and bronchial irritation caused by common cold, loosening of phlegm and thinning of bronchial secretions to ease mucus, and for making coughs more productive. However, it is important to consult with a doctor before using Tabtussin if you have a chronic cough, fever, rash or persistent headache or are pregnant or breastfeeding, and to notify them if you are taking any prescription drugs or have certain health conditions. It is also important to not exceed the recommended dose limit of 6 caplets a day for adults and children over 12 years of age.*
