This is a drug fact sheet for an extended-release tablet containing Guaifenesin 600 mg which is used as an expectorant to help loosen mucus and thin bronchial secretions for the temporary relief of chest congestion. It should not be used by children under 12 years of age and precautions should be taken by pregnant and breastfeeding women. If cough persists for more than 7 days, stops and starts again or is accompanied by a severe headache or back pain, a physician should be consulted. The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 or 2 tablets every 12 hours and should not exceed 4 tablets per 24 hours. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water and not crushed or broken. The inactive ingredients are listed on the package and Rite Aid is the distributor of this product.*
