Ganciclovir for injection, USP is a cytotoxic and carcinogenic agent available in a 500mg/vial preparation for intravenous infusion. It must be handled with great care. Each vial contains ganciclovir sodium equal to 500mg of Ganciclovir. The solution may be diluted to a concentration of 10ml or less prior to use, with sterile water or USP injection. The solution should be shaken well before use and used within 12 hours. The package insert should be consulted for the appropriate dosage. It should be stored at 25°C with excursions permitted 0-13° or 30°C. Lot information is also given in the text.*
