This is a description of a nasal decongestant spray that contains oxymetazoline as the active ingredient. It is used to temporarily relieve nasal congestion caused by hay fever, common cold, sinusitis, and respiratory allergies. The product shrinks swollen nasal membranes, thereby allowing for freer breathing. However, it comes with a warning that individuals with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, or enlarged thyroid gland should consult a doctor before use. The product should not be used for more than three days or more than the recommended dosage, as doing so may cause nasal congestion to recur or worsen. Temporary discomforts, such as a burning or stinging sensation, sneezing, or an increase in nasal discharge, may be experienced. The manufacturer recommends that only one person uses the product to prevent the spread of infection, and it should be kept out of reach of children. The product comes in a spray bottle, and each application requires two or three sprays in each nostril not more than once every ten to twelve hours. Children under six years of age should ask a doctor before use.*
