The medication should be used with caution or ask a doctor before use if the user has persistent or chronic cough, is pregnant or breastfeeding, cough accompanied by excessive mucus, or taking prescription monoamine oxide inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression or Parkinson's disease). It is not recommended to exceed six doses in 24 hours, and if symptoms persist for more than a week or tend to recur, the user should consult a doctor.
