This is a description of a topical antiseptic solution called Povidone-lodine, USP 10%. It is used for preparation of skin and mucous membranes prior to surgery to reduce the bacteria that causes skin infection. The net contents of the solution are 2 fl. oz. (59 ml). The solution is manufactured by Jangsu Province JanEang Medica Dresing o. Lt in Jinan City, China. It contains glycerin, nonoxynol 10, and purified water as inactive ingredients. The directions are for a patient preoperative prep and one should apply the solution to the operative site following Povidone-lodine scrub application. The solution should not be allowed to pool. It is necessary to store the Povidone-lodine solution at room temperature, to avoid excessive heat or freezing, and keep it out of reach of children.
