Caladryl is a topical cream used primarily to provide relief to skin irritation such as itching, burns, and insect bites. It has a drying action and protects the skin from further irritation or injury with its active ingredients; 8% calamine, which serves as a skin protectant and 15% pramoxine HCI for pain relief. The cream is effective for treating poison ivy or poison oak exposure and is safe to use for minor cuts and scrapes but ensure to consult a doctor before use in children under 3 years old. The instructions require you to shake the cream well before use, cleanse the affected area with soap and water, and apply the cream no more than three to four times daily.
