MEDGUIDE IBUPROFEN TABLETS - Medication Guide for Nonsteroidal Anti inflammatory drugs

This is a medication guide for Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs are used to treat pain, redness, inflammation, and swelling from medical conditions such as different types of arthritis, menstrual cramps, and other types of short-term pain. However, NSAIDs can cause serious side effects, including an increased risk of heart attacks or strokes that can lead to death, increased risk of bleeding, ulcers and tears (perforation) of the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Other possible side effects of NSAIDs include stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, gas, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. These are not all the possible side effects of NSAIDs. Patients should take NSAIDs exactly as prescribed, at the lowest dose possible for their treatment and for the shortest time needed. Patients should not take NSAIDs if they have had an asthma attack, hives, or other allergic reaction with aspirin or any other NSAIDs, and right before or after heart bypass surgery. Patients should contact their healthcare providers immediately if they experience any of the possible side effects. In general, patients should not use NSAIDs for a condition for which it was not prescribed, and should not give NSAIDs to other people, even if they have the same symptoms.*
