SCRUB-STAT is a chlorhexidine gluconate 2% solution for surgical hand scrub and healthcare personnel handwash. It significantly reduces the number of microorganisms in the hands and forearms prior to surgery or patient care. It may cause a severe allergic reaction, and if this happens, one must seek medical help right away. It is not advisable to use routinely if there are wounds that involve more than the superficial layers of the skin. Finally, it can cause chemical burns, so users must be careful when using it on premature infants or infants under two months old.*
