This is a description of Benadryl Allergy ULTRATABS. It is an antihistamine medication that relieves the symptoms of hay fever, other upper respiratory allergies, and common cold including runny nose, sneezing, itchy, and watery eyes. It also provides temporary relief from itchy throat and nose due to allergies. The medication should not be used to make a child sleepy and should not be taken with any other product containing diphenhydramine, even one that is used on the skin. Patients with glaucoma, breathing problems, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland should consult their doctor before use. The medication may cause marked drowsiness, especially in children. Adult patients and children 12 years and older should take 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours, but should not take more than 6 times in 24 hours.
