This is a drug fact sheet for an antacid used to relieve upset stomach, heartburn, and indigestion. The active ingredient in each tablespoon is bismuth subsalicylate, containing 262 mg, and the dosage for adults and children above 12 years is one dose every 30 minutes, not exceeding 8 doses in 24 hours for no more than two days. It contains salicylate, which causes an allergic reaction if a person is allergic to aspirin. The drug should not be used by people with an ulcer, bleeding problem, or black stool. Children recovering from chickenpox or flu-like symptoms shouldn't use the medication, and in case of worsening symptoms or ringing in the ears, users should stop taking it and see a doctor.
