Altipres (Altipres)
Altipres is a cough suppressant, expectorant, and nasal decongestant medication. It contains active ingredients such as dextromethorphan HBr, guaifenesin, and phenylephrine HC, which helps loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes, temporarily relieves nasal congestion due to the common cold, and cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation. The medication comes with several warnings, including not to use it in a child under 2 years of age, and to ask a doctor before use if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, diabetes, or any trouble urinating due to the enlargement of the prostate gland or a cough that occurs with too much phlegm (mucus). Pregnant or breastfeeding women should ask a health professional before using it. Furthermore, the user should not exceed the recommended dosage and should stop using it and ask a doctor if they get nervous, dizzy, or sleepless, or if the symptoms do not get better within 7 days or are accompanied by fever, a cough that lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache. The medication comes with specific dosing instructions for children and adults, and it is sugar-free, alcohol-free, saccharin-free, and sorbitol-free.*
