Bismuth Label (M527)

Bismuth Label (M527)
KAO-BIS, a 12 FL. OZ. (355 mL) suspension bottle, contains a new formula of Bismuth Subsalicylate that relieves diarrhea, nausea, and upset stomach associated with these symptoms. This product is manufactured by the RIJ Pharmaceutical Corporation in Middletown, NY. It is comparable to the active ingredient found in Kaopectate®. However, the product warns against the use of it by individuals recovering from chickenpox, teenagers, and children. Immediate consultation with a doctor is needed if changes in behavior with nausea and vomiting take place as these symptoms could be an early sign of Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. Ingestion of salicylate products by allergy sufferers, bleeding problems, and body or black stool or ulcers patients is discouraged. If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, if you have diabetes, gout, are on blood thinners, have ever had mucous in the stool, or are on a magnesium/sodium-restricted diet, consult a doctor before use. Adults and children over the age of 12 can take 2 tablespoons (30mL) of KAO-BIS, while children under 12 should ask a doctor. The ingredients used in this product include sodium benzoate, sorbitol, and water amongst others. Keep the product at room temperature, avoid exposing it to freezing or excessive heat (over 40C or 1042F), and do not use it if the breakaway band on the cap is broken or missing.*
