This is a description of Heparin Sodium Injection, USP. It is derived from porcine intestinal mucosa and is used for intravenous or subcutaneous use. Each mL contains 1,000 USP units heparin sodium, 9mg sodium chloride, 1.5mg methylparaben, and 0.15 mg propylparaben, with water for injection q.5. It is sterile and nonpyrogenic and is not for lock flush. Hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide may have been added for pH adjustment. It is stored at 20° to 25° C (68° to 77° F). It is Sterile, Nonpyrogenic, and for Intravenous or Subcutaneous use only. Hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide may have been added for pH adjustment. It contains 5 mg sodium chloride; 1.5 mg methylparaben; 0.15 mg propylparaben; Water for Injection q.5. The usual dosage, administration precautions, and warnings are available in the product insert. The solution should only be used if it is clear and seal intact. The container closure is not made from natural rubber latex. It should be stored at 20° to 25° C (68° to 77" F).
