This is an information sheet for a medication called MAXIMUM STRENGTH Acid Reducer which contains Famotidine 20 mg. The medication relieves heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach brought on by eating or drinking certain foods and beverages. The medication should not be used if there are signs of a serious condition such as trouble or pain swallowing, vomiting with blood, or black stools. The medication should also not be used if the patient has kidney disease or has been experiencing heartburn for over 3 months or experiencing chest pain or shoulder pain with shortness of breath, sweating; pain spreading to arms, neck, or shoulders; or frequent chest pain or wheezing. The medication should not be taken for more than 14 days, and a health professional should be consulted before use if pregnant or breastfeeding. The medication should be stored at 20°C to 25°C and out of reach of children. The inactive ingredients include carnauba wax, cornstarch, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, red iron oxide, sodium starch glycolate, talc, titanium dioxide, and yellow iron oxide.
