Docosanol Cream is a cold sore treatment that helps to shorten the healing time of cold sores and reduce symptoms like tingling, pain, itching, and burning. It is different from other over-the-counter cold sore products since it contains 10% docosanol. Docosanol cream can be used by adults and children 12 years and over. The cream should be applied five times a day until the cold sore is healed, starting from the first sign of the tingle, redness, bump, or itch. Cosmetics can be applied over it, but it is recommended to use a separate applicator to avoid spreading the infection.*
