This is a medication for the treatment of constipation containing lactulose solution. The solution's usual adult dosage is 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls daily. The solution may take 24 to 48 hours to produce a bowel movement since it exerts its effect in the colon. If mixed with fruit juice, water or milk, it may be more acceptable to some patients. The solution should be dispensed in its original container or a tight, light-resistant container with child-resistant closure. It should be stored between 2°-30°C (36°-86°F) and should not be frozen.
