Lactulose Solution, USP is a medication used to treat constipation. Each 15 mL of the solution contains 10 g of lactulose and other sugars. The adult dosage is 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls (15 to 30 mL) daily, and it may take 24 to 48 hours to produce a normal bowel movement. The solution can be mixed with fruit juice, water, or milk. The product is packaged in 8 fl oz bottles and should be kept tightly closed at room temperature.
