This is a drug fact sheet that provides warnings and directions for using Povidone-Iodine solution. It is advised not to use it if allergic to iodine and not to use it in the eyes. The solution should be used externally and under the guidance of a doctor if suffering from deep or puncture wounds, serious burns, or if the redness, irritation, swelling, or pain persists or increases. It is recommended to keep the solution out of reach of children and not to ingest it. The solution is available only for professional or hospital use and contains 1% available iodine, disodium hydrogen phosphate, citric acid, purified water, and Povidone-iodine USP 10%. It is labelled as an antiseptic skin preparation.*
