OXYGEN, REFRIGERATED LIQUID USP is a dangerous product that should be used only by trained personnel. It is an oxidizing liquid and gas under pressure that accelerates combustion. It should not come into contact with combustibles, and smoking near it should be avoided as it could lead to a fire or explosion. The container should always be kept upright, and liquid should not be allowed to enter eyes, clothing, or skin. Severe frostbite can result from contact with this substance. The MSDS should be followed, and high concentrations of oxygen should not be used for long periods of time without monitoring its effect on oxygen content of arterial blood. It should be used only with equipment that has been cleaned for oxygen service. For liquid withdrawal, gloves and a face shield should be used, and a suitable hand truck should be used for container movement. It is not recommended for use on patients who have stopped breathing, unless used in conjunction with resuscitative equipment.*
