OXYGEN, REFRIGERATED LIQUID USP is a very cold, oxidizing liquid and gas that requires handling with utmost care. It should always be kept in an upright position, and connections must not be changed or forced, as this may accelerate combustion. Smoking is prohibited around oxygen as it can cause a fire, and combustibles in contact with liquid oxygen can explode on impact or ignition. It can also cause severe frostbite; hence, handlers must wear face shields and gloves when withdrawing the liquid. Only oxygen service equipment must be used, and the container should be stored and used in a well-ventilated area. The valve must be closed every time after use, and in case of frostbite, medical treatment should be sought immediately. The label indicates that uninterrupted use of high concentrations of oxygen without monitoring its effects on the oxygen content of arterial blood may be harmful. Finally, it is produced by Air Liquefaction, and the CAS NO is 7782-44-7.*
