The solution is adjusted with sodium hydroxide and water for injection to achieve a pH of 6 to 9 and an osmolarity of 270 mOsm/L. It is important to use the solution within 24 hours after opening and discard any unused portion. The solution is stored below 25°C (77°F) and should not be frozen. SMOFlipid is a Pharmacy Bulk Package lipid injection emulsion for intravenous use only with energy of 2000 keal per 1000 mL. It contains Soybean Oil, USP, Medium Chain Triglycerides, NF, Olive Oil, NF, Fish Oil, USP, Glycerol, USP, Purified Egg Phospholipids, NF, All-rac-a-Tocopherol, USP, Sodium Oleate, and Water for Injection, USP. It is sold in a 1000mL bag and should not be used for direct infusion. The emulsion must be homogenous and the bag undamaged. Once opened, the content must be used within 4 hours. It must be compounded with other Parenteral Nutrition products. It is sterile and should be stored below 25°C.*
