The active ingredient in every extended-release bi-layer tablet is guaifenesin, 1200 mg. The product should not be used for children under 12 years of age. It must be taken with a full glass of water and only one tablet should be administered every 12 hours. It should not be crushed, chewed, or broken. The inactive ingredients include FD&C blue #1 lake, carbomer homopolymer, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, USP, and hypromellose, USP.
