This is a drug fact sheet for a medication that consists of three active ingredients: acetaminophen, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, and phenylephrine hydrochloride. It is used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains, headache, minor sore throat pain, nasal and sinus congestion, cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation, runny nose, sneezing, itchy, watery eyes due to hay fever, and itchy nose and throat while also temporarily reducing fever. The medication comes in packets that are dissolved in hot water before drinking, and users should not consume more than six packets in 24 hours. The drug contains acetaminophen, which can cause severe liver damage if taken in amounts exceeding the recommended dosage or with other drugs containing acetaminophen. The medication should not be used with any other product containing diphenhydramine or by people taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Potential side effects include marked drowsiness and excitability. If symptoms do not improve after seven days of use or new symptoms occur, users should stop taking the drug and seek a doctor's advice.
