Amoxicillin for Oral Suspension is an Rx only medication containing 125 mg per 5 mL of amoxicillin as trihydrate. The net content of the bottle is equivalent to 2.5 g of amoxicillin. It is not for injection and must be prepared by a pharmacist before dispensing. The usual dosage varies depending on type and severity of infection in adults and children. The resulting suspension when prepared correctly contains 125 mg of amoxicillin in each 5 mL (teaspoonful). The unused portion of the reconstituted suspension must be discarded after 14 days when stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
