Capricorn Pharma produces a pectoral medicine for cough relief, best for ages 4 and up. It contains dextromethorphan HBr 5 mg which suppresses cough, and guaifenesin 100 mg which helps to loosen phlegm and make coughs more productive. This medicine should not be used if the packets are open or torn. It is also not safe to use if the patient is taking or has taken monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) drugs for depression, psychiatric, or emotional conditions, or Parkinson’s disease, or two weeks after stopping such drugs. If patients have persistent cough, fever, rash, or persistent headache, they should stop using this medicine and seek medical attention as they could be signs of a serious illness. The doses vary for different age groups, and more than six doses should not be taken in any 24-hour period.*
