OXYGEN, REFRIGERATED LIQUID USP is a hazardous gas that may cause or intensify fire, and the combustibles in contact with it may explode on ignition or impact. Therefore, it should not be handled until all safety precautions have been read and understood. The gas should be kept and stored away from all combustible materials, and the valves and fittings should be free from grease and oil. The use of cold insulating gloves, face shields, and eye protection is necessary, and the gas should be used and stored only outdoors or in a well-ventilated place. In case of fire, one should stop the leak if safe to do so, use a backflow preventive device in the piping, and use only equipment of compatible materials of construction and rated for cylinder pressure. First aid must be provided immediately in case of skin contact. In addition, the gas must not be used on patients who have stopped breathing unless used in conjunction with resuscitative equipment.*
