This is a drug fact label for Bismuth subsalicylate tablets. The tablets are for relief of upset stomach, indigestion, heartburn, and diarrhea. Each tablet contains 262 mg of Bismuth subsalicylate and is an anti-diarrheal. The label cautions against use for individuals with chickenpox or flu-like symptoms. It also warns against use for individuals with bleeding problems or those taking certain medications. Darkening of stool or tongue may occur. The directions suggest two tablets every 1/2 to 1 hour for adults and children over 12 years old, up to 8 doses (16 tablets) in 24 hours. The label advises drinking plenty of fluids to help prevent dehydration caused by diarrhea.
