Povidone-Iodine Gel Swabsticks are an antiseptic/germicide solution for external use only. The product comes in individual packets that contain a swabstick saturated with 10% Povidone-Iodine. For venipuncture skin preparation or preoperative patient skin preparation, hold a swabstick at an angle and begin scrubbing in a circular motion over a 1-inch area, directly over the area of treatment. Continue this for at least 30 seconds. After scrubbing, and using the same applicator, begin at the treatment site and move gradually outward in concentric circles to form a total prepped area of at least 3 inches in diameter. After scrubbing for 30 seconds, allow the site to dry for approximately 30 seconds. If the patient bends the arm, or if the prepared site is touched with the fingers or with any other non-sterile object, the complete preparation must be repeated. For first aid antiseptic, clean the affected area and apply 1 to 3 times daily. May be covered with a sterile bandage.*
