Ertapenem for Injection is a medication that is administered intravenously or intramuscularly, and each vial contains 1.046 grams of ertapenem sodium, which is equivalent to 1 gram of ertapenem. The medication is stored below 25°C prior to constitution. The accompanying prescribing information contains instructions for dosage and administration, as well as how to dilute the medication with an approved diluent. Each vial has 175 mg of sodium bicarbonate and sodium hydroxide to adjust pH to 7.5, and the solution can range from colorless to pale yellow without affecting potency.
