Overall, there were 1318 patients involved in this evaluation. They were divided into two age groups: <65 years old (N=085) and >= 65 years old (N=333). The gender distribution was 984 males and 334 females. The baseline sitting systolic blood pressure (SBP) was categorized as <= mean (N=699) and > mean (N=618). Under baseline vessel disease, there were no occurrences of single vessel disease, but there were 1315 cases of multiple vessel disease. In terms of baseline vessels with stenosis, 850 patients had at least one vessel with more than 60% stenosis, while 465 patients did not have any vessels with more than 60% stenosis. The strata for PCl-stent included 680 patients with no percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), 53 patients with PCI but without stent placement, and 585 patients with stent placement. The comparison between amlodipine and placebo did not favor either treatment. The mean sitting baseline SBP was 129 mmHg. The hazard ratio (with a 95% confidence interval) is not available.*
