Promethazine DM is an oral solution used for treating cough and other symptoms like runny nose and sneezing caused by the common cold, allergies, and other respiratory illnesses. It contains Promethazine HCL and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide. The drug should only be taken by the patient for whom it was prescribed, and not to be shared with anyone else to comply with Federal law. The oral solution is sold under the trade name Phenergan. The presence of alcohol is a key ingredient in this solution, and one teaspoonful contains 7% of alcohol. The ingredients and their respective dosage per 5 mL are listed on the bottle.
