Consumers are warned not to take this product for persistent or chronic coughs that are accompanied by excessive phlegm unless otherwise directed by a doctor. If cough persists for over a week, tends to recur or is accompanied by a fever or persistent headache, consumers are advised to consult a doctor. The syrup should not be taken more than 6 doses in any 24 hours period, and it should not be used by children under 12 years old without consulting a physician.
