The active ingredient is Bismuth subsalicylate 262 mg, and the tablets should be chewed or dissolved in the mouth. This medication is not recommended for people who have bleeding problems, allergies to salicylates (aspirin), or are taking other salicylate products. Patients under 12 years of age are advised to consult a doctor before using the medication. Some side effects may include ringing in the ears, temporary darkening of the bowel movements, and/or temporary darkening of the tongue but, can be harmless.
