This product is a capsaicin cream with 0.025% concentration. It provides external analgesic penetrating pain relief for minor aches and pains of muscles and joints due to simple backache, arthritis, strains, and sprains. The cream comes in a 2.1 oz (60 g) tube and is manufactured by Rugby Laboratories, Inc. The active ingredient, capsaicin, is an external anesthetic that relieves pain by blocking nerve impulses. The cream should not be used on wounds or damaged skin, and the user should test it first on a small area of skin. The intensity of the burning sensation varies among individuals and may be severe. With regular use, this sensation generally disappears after several days. It should not be applied near the eyes, lips, nose, and mucous membranes, and the treated area should not be wrapped tightly or bandaged. Heat should not be applied to the treated area immediately before or after use. The cream should not be used by children under 18 years old unless advised by a doctor. The cream's inactive ingredients are acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, cetyl acetate, methylparaben, PPG-20 methyl glucose ether distearate, propylene glycol, propylparaben, steareth-100, stearic acid, stearyl alcohol, triethanolamine, and water.
