This is a description of a medication called Mitomycin, which comes in vials containing 5 mg of Mitomycin and 10 mg of mannitol. The user needs to add 10 mL of sterile water for injection, shake the vial to dissolve the contents, and allow the solution to stand at room temperature until fully dissolved. The reconstituted solution will contain 0.5 mg of Mitomycin per mL with a pH between 6.0 and 8.0. It must be diluted before administration intravenously to avoid tissue damage. The vial does not contain a preservative and must be stored in the original carton at controlled room temperature. After reconstitution, the solution should be protected from light and stored in refrigeration between 2°-8°C. The solution should be discarded after 14 days if refrigerated, or after 7 days if left unrefrigerated. Special handling procedures apply due to the cytotoxic nature of Mitomycin.
