This is a description for Docosanol Cream, 10%. Docosanol Cream is a treatment for cold sores and fever blisters. It has been proven to shorten the healing time of cold sores and reduce symptoms such as tingling, pain, itching, and burning. It is recommended to use Docosanol Cream at the very start of a cold sore outbreak, when the first signs of a tingle, redness, bump, or itch appear. The cream contains 10% docosanol, which is effective in treating cold sores. It can be used by adults and children 12 years and over, up to five times a day until the cold sore is healed. Cosmetics can be applied over the cream, but it is important to use a separate applicator to avoid spreading the infection.*
