This is a drug facts label for Mentholatum, a topical analgesic used for temporary relief of muscular and joint pain associated with arthritis, backache, sprains, strains, and bruises. The active ingredients are DL-Menthol and Methyl salicylate. The product should only be used externally and is flammable. It should be kept away from fire, sparks, and heat sources. The product should not be applied to wounds or damaged skin, and must be kept out of reach of children. The product must be used as directed, and must be avoided from contact with eyes. The product must not be bandaged tight. If the condition worsens, or if the symptoms persist for more than 7 days, a doctor must be consulted. The product must be applied to the affected area 3-4 times daily, but not more than that. Children under the age of 2 should only use the product under the supervision of a doctor. The product should be stored at room temperature. Inactive ingredients include acetone, chloroxylenol, and water.
