Acyclovir is a drug used for temporary relief of itching resulting from minor skin irritations and rashes caused by eczema, psoriasis, insect bites, poison oak or poison sumac, soaps, detergents, cosmetics, jewelry, seborrheic dermatitis, and external genital and anal itching. The drug is for external use only and should not be used in the eyes or rectum. Before using, consult a doctor if you have vaginal discharge, rectal bleeding, or diaper rash. Directions require applying the cream not more than 3 to 4 times a day. The drug should be stored at room temperature. If the condition persists for more than seven days, stop using it and consult a doctor. Inactive ingredients include cetostearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium lauryl sulfate, white petrolatum.
